A DC-to-DC charger provides a controlled connection between your engine's starting battery/alternator system and your house battery bank.

Rather than directly connecting the two battery banks, the Orion XS regulates charging current and voltage to provide the appropriate charging profile for your house battery while helping protect the starting battery and alternator from excessive demand.

The charging current can be adjusted from 1–70 amps, allowing the Orion XS to be configured around your alternator's available output and your battery bank's charging requirements.

The Orion XS 70A provides up to 70 amps of charging current, adjustable in 0.1A increments through the VictronConnect app.

This allows you to tailor the charging system to your alternator's available output and your battery bank's requirements.

🌬️ Built-In Active Cooling

The Orion XS 70A features two integrated, low-noise blower fans mounted on the bottom of the unit to provide active cooling.

This active cooling system helps the charger maintain high-output performance in demanding installations and tight spaces where heat management is critical.

With adequate airflow and proper installation, the Orion XS 70A is capable of delivering its full 1,000W rated output up to 104°F (40°C) before thermal derating begins.

Important Installation Note

The Orion XS 12/12-70A is not waterproof and has an overall IP20 rating, making it suitable for installation in a dry, protected location. Its internal power electronics are enclosed to IP65, but the complete charger should not be exposed to water or installed where it may get wet.

Proper ventilation is also important. The active cooling fans require adequate clearance and airflow around the unit for maximum performance.
